Duncan Stevenson's original studies were in mathematics (University of Melbourne) and computing (University of Canberra). He worked for 26 years with the CSIRO (the Australian Government's science research organisation) developing research prototypes in image processing, immersive virtual environments and tele-collaboration. Since 1999 he has focused on work in the health sector, combining advanced simulation and interaction technologies with tele-collaborative technologies to address both teaching environments and clinical situations. He left CSIRO in 2008 to complete his doctoral thesis at the Australian National University and he now holds an adjunct position there in the Research School of Computer Science.
