Jim Warren has a BS in Computer Science and PhD in Information Systems from the University of Maryland. He was with the University of South Australia (UniSA) from 1993 to 2005 where he lead the Health Informatics Laboratory of UniSA's Advanced Computing Research Centre. His chief interest is innovative IT for improvement of chronic disease management, including support for care planning, consumer health informatics and data mining for quality assurance. Since November 2005 he has taken up the position of Chair in Health Informatics at the University of Auckland.
